Have you ever wanted to go on a walk, but the second you started out your toddler started whining? Then you are 5 minutes into your walk, and contemplating turning around so they stop complaining? Been there!!

While most times, Graham loves to go for walks there are times when he just doesn’t want to go. There are things that he would rather be doing, but sometimes as a mama I just need to get out of the house for a little and breathe. Walking helps me do that!

I have found that it really helps if we “do something” while we walk. We tell jokes, play eye spy, or play a guessing game.

One day, Graham asked to go on a nature walk (he probably saw it on one of his Youtube videos). Our community is great to walk in, but there isn’t much nature to see. I asked him what he thought he would find walking around our neighborhood, and he rattled off a ton of different things. I decided to turn his answers into a scavenger hunt! He even helped me pick pictures for each thing.

Once we had everything added, I printed it on our home printer. I wanted to be able to use it a few times, so I decided to laminate it. I have a laminator from my time as an elementary teacher, so it was quick and easy for me to do. That being said, laminating is totally optional. Because it was laminate, we got a dry erase marker to use.

Graham got a camera from the Easter Bunny this passed year, so we decided to take that along as well.

Our Scavenger Hunt

We walked around our neighborhood checking off things that we saw. Graham also stopped a few times to take pictures with his camera. He really enjoyed it, but he did get a little upset that we didn’t find everything. When we got back home, we hadn’t checked off the mushroom, lady bug, or caterpillar.

Graham’s Pictures

The photo quality of his little camera isn’t the best, but he loves it and I’m pretty impressed with his pictures!

Now every time we go on a walk, he asks to do our scavenger hunt. We have yet to find a caterpillar!
