I have been in education the last (almost) 10 years…wow! Where did that time go? I now work as a school counselor, but I also spent 5 years as a classroom teacher. I loved my time in the classroom, and there are days I really want to go back . Teaching is truly one of the most amazing and rewarding professions there is! It can also be the most exhausting and thankless job.
I know I don’t thank my children’s teachers enough, so I wanted to make sure I did something nice for them for Teacher Appreciation Week.
Getting a gift for teachers can be tough; you don’t always know what they like, and they only want and need so many candles and mugs. So gifts that we have given to our teachers have been personalized bracelets, decorative sugar cookies, personalized tumblers, and gift cards. Our school (daycare), typically asks parents to donate or provide food for a teacher luncheon as well. When I was a teacher, my absolute favorite gifts were given to me when I worked at a daycare. We were given a vase from the owner, then as students were dropped off for the day, they gave us a flower. By the end of the morning, we had the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. There are so many great ideas to show your appreciation to those teachers who not only keep our children alive, but help them learn and grow every single day.
That being said, I was stuck on what to do. I know those Stoney Clove bags are all the rage and I see them all over Instagram, so I thought that would be a really cute idea.
The Bag and What I Filled it With

We were making gifts for three teachers, so I found the most perfect clear make-up bag and it came in a set of three. There were a bunch of color options, but I went with the rose gold color.
Next, I found Chenille letter patches on Etsy and ordered one for each teacher. I just did the first letter of their first name. I got the self adhesive patches, so they stick right on to the plastic make-up bag.
While the bag could have been the only gift, I wanted to give them a little something extra. I gave each teacher a gift card, these motivational cards that I found on Amazon, and some cute pens. When they open the motivational cards they will see a little saying, so I provided one for each day of the week. They could open it all at once or one a day for a little pick me up. Of course I also wrote a quick little thank you.
(Here is another version if you don’t like the open up ones. You could give each teacher 5 so there is still one for every day.)
To fill the bag, I added a layer of left over Easter grass to make it appear more full, and also make it look a little cuter.
I hope the teachers enjoy the gift!
This is great! Using this idea for my teacher gifts. Thanks for posting
